Art Salon de H is pleased to present Flower, Beyond Beauty, a solo exhibition by artist Kim Jungah, on view from August 22 to September 20, 2025.

Kim Jungah has long focused on beings and objects that have lost their light and been quietly left behind in the passage of time and space. Over the past decade, her attention has turned toward the sea and environmental issues. Since 2010, she has collected and classified marine debris from the shores of Geoje, transforming these remnants into the language of art. For the artist, waste and fragments are not mere pollutants but traces of modern civilization and materials that, within her work, are reborn with new life and beauty.

In this exhibition, discarded marine debris reappears as flowers and fairies, reimagined through painting and sculpture. The petals and silhouettes that emerge on her canvases extend beyond mere decorative beauty, conveying reflections on consumerist desire, its residues, compassion for existence, and the regenerative power of life.

Viewers encounter moments where the boundaries between destruction and renewal, death and beauty, dissolve—experiencing, almost tangibly, the possibility of life blossoming even amidst ruins.

Flower, Beyond Beauty not only prompts reflection on the urgent environmental challenges we face but also reveals how art can transform and reinterpret them. Rooted in personal and local experiences yet connected to global environmental concerns, Kim’s practice reminds us of the meaning of small actions in daily life. This exhibition aspires to be a modest but significant step toward envisioning a sustainable future.
