Artist Statement
My painting resides within the realm of figuration, yet it does not aim for realistic representation. The figures that appear on my canvas borrow their bodies from reality, but their true essence is built from structural elements—lines, curves, and triangles. They are clothed in color and value, creating rhythm across the surface and ultimately establishing themselves as a unified composition.
Although I could pursue non-figurative work, I invariably return to the human body. The body is my most immediate means of understanding the world, and the humanity revealed within it remains the central force that drives my practice. Moving between figuration and abstraction, I seek to construct my own visual language at the point where these two territories meet.
My aspiration toward a “figurative–abstract” style emerges through the process of dismantling and recomposing forms and colors drawn from reality. This synthesis is never easy, yet within its difficulty lies the possibility of new structures—and it is precisely this tension that fascinates me.
Ultimately, my work is an attempt to capture the moments when traces of reality intersect with the sensibility of abstraction. I will continue to explore the space where these two worlds collide, converge, and create new harmonies.
