Song Mirinae 송미리내
About the Artist | Song Mirinae
Song Mirinae has steadily built her unique visual language by transforming everyday materials such as thread and fabric into artistic expressions, following her graduation from the Graduate School of Fine Arts at Hongik University.
In 2024, she received the Incarnation Foundation Art Award, was selected as a registered artist by the SOMA Museum of Art, and won the Grand Prize at the Korea Artist Prize, hosted by Secret Town Co., Ltd. These accolades reflect the wide recognition of her artistic vision both in Korea and internationally. Growing up alongside parents who made their living through sewing, Song naturally formed a deep bond with thread and fabric—materials that now serve as the foundation of her practice. At the heart of her work are thread, fabric scraps, and a unique method she developed known as “text drawing.” Through these, she delicately reveals the invisible connections between nature and humanity, time and space. Her art becomes a vessel for condensed breath, sensory memory, and relationships.
Song’s work extends beyond visual outcomes. It is process-oriented, designed to breathe and resonate within the viewer’s own rhythm. Her quiet yet dense visual language stirs emotions and creates a space for deep empathy and introspection.
"Though we communicate through words, beneath it all lies an invisible energy conveyed through our senses—a shared breath stirred by nature, a moment of resonance. I strive to capture and project this ongoing, silent dialogue with the world into my works. This act may be understood as a search for the self, or perhaps a deeper form of self-realization."
– From the artist’s note-
Through her work, Song Mirinae engages in a quiet yet powerful conversation with the world—inviting each viewer to experience a space of reflection, connection, and emotional resonance.
