Art Salon de H presents "New Generation," a series of two duo shows featuring emerging artists all born in the 1990s. As a renewal for the start of the year, this exhibition series opens a window onto young artists who have embraced the historical medium of painting, contributing to its revitalization.

"New Generation" is a crossroads between four artists from Paris to Seoul, a cultural in-between rich in resources and inspiration. By opening a dialogue on issues and themes specific to their generation, these four artists present a contemporary perspective on concerns such as identity search, migration, and primarily personal narratives.
Painters in search of meaning and introspection, a theme particularly explored by young artists.

In a perpetual quest for creation and driven by curiosity, this exhibition offers an opportunity to explore young creation and its relationship with contemporary painting. It is also a chance for visitors to discover and support new talents who may, perhaps, shape the history of tomorrow's contemporary art.

The first exhibition, "New Generation Part 1," features a duo show by artists Kim Na-ryeong and Ahn Chung-guk. At first glance, their works may appear to have little in common and seem to contrast sharply. However, both artists express the impact of their cultural differences and personal experiences on their lives as artists, translating these influences onto the canvas. Both artists place great importance on memory and existence, addressing a common theme that encourages us to reflect on our own inner selves, asking "No matter where we have been, where we are now, and where we are headed in the future."

Born in 1992, Kim Naryeong majored in biotechnology at Yonsei University before moving to France, where she graduated with a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Fine Arts from the "École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts" in Bourges. Active in artist residencies in Saint-Rémy in the south of France and at 59 Rivoli in Paris, Kim has continued her artistic practice and exhibitions in various European cities, including France and Germany, in 2023 and 2024.

Kim Na-ryeong's works intuitively depict forms through sensory representations, capturing figures with a delicate yet mysterious atmosphere, blending tension and harmony on the canvas. In her creative process, she captures moments in the form of photographs, using more realistic expressions and colors to convey deep emotions.

The 32-year-old Korean artist, who moved to France to immerse herself in a new living environment, is deeply dedicated to the medium of painting.

The artist doesn’t need to look far for inspiration, as she surrounds herself with details and people that she is intuitively drawn to, which later emerge in her work. Her paintings are a sincere expression of her personality and an acceptance of all human emotions. Naryoung borrows codes from figurative tradition, which she manipulates and blurs with a mysterious atmosphere. She seeks to depict reality, first capturing it in photographic form before translating it onto canvas in an intimate environment.

Still lifes, anonymous silhouettes, and generic bodies whose faces are hidden, with only their gestures hinting at their emotions. The characters appear indifferent to the viewers, immersed in their thoughts, perhaps in meditation, or perhaps preoccupied with the rhythm of life. But then, what are they thinking?
Through her brush, Kim Naryoung conveys an enigmatic atmosphere, leaving a suspended reflection on the canvas.

Anh Chungkuk's universe, shaped by an unconventional life journey, is filled with reflections that are both deeply personal and equally universal. There is something cathartic in the artist's approach, as it seems that through his work, he attempts to answer questions that accompany and trouble him daily.
These are profound questions that each of us may one day face: "What path should I take in life?" "Who am I in this world?"
His works appear as sketches of answers to his intuitions, anxieties, and premonitions. This is a way for the artist to force himself into a confrontation with his history and to engage in an introspective process, which he generously shares with the public. It is an invitation for collective reflection on the place of our memory in our lives, the form it takes in our actions, and for the artist, in art.

Anh Chungkuk, born in a small village in the Hamgyong province, has been drawing and exploring the subjects of painting since he was 10 years old. Today, he composes his canvases with unexpected materials such as cement, mesh, and nails, which he allows to mix freely with the softer traditional materials of paint. This encounter of unusual materials, where chance plays a significant role on the canvas, creates dense stories and a unique result.
Upon careful observation, one can see the blue of the sky, the green of nature, and the pink of optimism emerge from these dark materials… delicate beams of color that, within the chaos of the artist's reflections, intertwine and give way to a sense of hope and positivity. A journey through the night toward a dazzling light.

If we were to sum up Chungkuk Anh's work, we could primarily describe it as an exploration where the essence of his reflections seeks to express itself freely and engage universally.
