Art Salon de H proudly presents Echoes of Life, a two-person exhibition featuring artists Hyesun Han and Sooman Moon, whose practices explore the essence of life through the language of art. The exhibition takes place in the heart of Yeouido, Seoul, at Art Salon de H.

Beyond the visible surface of life, we often sense subtle vibrations—sometimes quiet, sometimes intense—that speak of the deeper pulse of existence. This exhibition invites viewers to tune into those delicate tremors, offering a contemplative encounter with the essence of being as captured through the distinct visual languages of two artists.

Art begins in the quiet tremble of breath rediscovered.
Hyesun Han’s works embody the beauty of survival itself—fragile, urgent, and luminous—emerging from the profound threshold of pain and recovery. In contrast, Sooman Moon’s paintings flow along the contours of emotion, observing the waves of life as they ripple silently beyond countless boundaries.

Though their perspectives differ, their works converge in a resonant dialogue. Together, they weave a poetic space of tension and harmony, inviting viewers to stand still and listen to the subtle echoes of life that unfold on the canvas.

Sooman Moon has developed a unique painting practice that explores the essence of existence through repetition, sensory perception, and the density of time. His works evoke inner landscapes that unfold slowly—spaces not to be instantly seen but gradually felt and deeply contemplated. Though his canvases may appear serene at first glance, they are imbued with tension, resonance, and the quiet flow of time.

Beginning with the belief that the visible world cannot be transparently reflected, Moon has long experimented with symbolic forms—from historical relics and butterfly motifs to simulacra and fractal structures—deconstructing them to build his own visual language. This journey of inquiry evolved into his Cloud series, in which repetition and layers of sensation culminate in a distinctive, meditative visual experience.

The grain-like dots that populate his works function both as structural elements of the clouds and as symbolic particles—representing cycles of nature, traces of emotion, and memories of time. Through this microcosmic approach, Moon persistently probes the order of nature, the particulate nature of the universe, and the roots of human existence.

In his paintings, color becomes a language of emotion, and the canvas operates as a temporal space of perception. Structures of light and dark, stillness and movement, reflect the rhythms of life and nature, expanding painting into a “device for slow sensation.” Rather than offering clear answers, Moon chooses to ask—and to re-ask—questions through the act of painting, leading viewers to reconsider the essence of perception itself: what it means to truly see in this very moment.

한혜선 Haesun Han

Haesun Han translates the tremors of life and profound reflections on the essence of existence into painting, drawn from her own experience of crossing the threshold between life and death. The life granted to her once again in the hospital opened up a completely new realm of perception, and her changed perspective and inner vibration unfold intuitively on the canvas.

Images of flowers, trees, and budding life appear not as mere representations of nature, but as metaphors for sensations captured in the fractures of life. Following the movement of her heart and the guidance of intuition, Han’s works express the miracle of being reborn in each moment—and the deep gratitude that accompanies it.

Her paintings approach the viewer with quiet, yet resonant intensity. Layers of sensation, vitality, healing, and recovery permeate her canvases, gently prompting us to reconsider what it means to exist. Through color and form, she offers a visual experience of life’s pulse—its subtle tremors and profound vibrations. Her work is a poetic testament born from the threshold of life, a heartfelt message from someone who has returned to breathe again.

"After wandering at the edge between life and death, I was finally able to breathe again, as if by divine grace... The nature I used to see no longer appeared the same. Perhaps because of that, I felt drawn—by something unknown—to pick up the brush once more."
